Adjustable Hook, and weight stop

Here is what it looks like on your line

adjusthook2.JPG

Some people wanted a way to adjust their hooks up, and down the line for drop shotting and Wiggle rigging.
They wanted a way to vary their lure depth from the bottom, without having to re-rig.

I was asked to invent such a rig, or method for doing this, as there has never been such a device or rig that would allow this, without having to re-tie your hook.

Here it is, the SpecTastic Adjustable hook rig, your hook is not tied to the line, you can move it at will, but it does not slip when setting the hook, or fighting the fish.

Like all my fishing tackle inventions, this one is also simple. It is simply a "glass bead" with an inserted rubber, that holds everything in place.  You can come up with the parts and tool yourself , or buy the total kit from SpecTastic.

To adjust your hook position, you simply grab the hook, and bead and "pull" them apart. Then which ever leg you want to lengthen, you hold the bead and pull that leg of the line, tightening the bead back to the hook.

When setting the hook, or fighting the fish, there is a straight line pull against the bead, "not" a 90 degree load, that could cause line failure. The only 90 degree load on the bead is between it, and the weight,, which is under 1 ounce.

Here is how it is rigged

After rigging your hook, attach your Wiggle rig, or drop shot weight to the end of the line.
To move your hook up and down the line, grab the hook, and the bead
and pull them apart, then just pull the leg you want to lenghten

This little bead system also makes
a great adjustable weight stop for the Carolina rig
(those still fishing it, instead of  Wiggling :-)
This removes the need for two knots on a swivel,
and puts no weak point on the line

You only thread the line through the bead once for this application.

We have the kits with 15, 6 mm high quality glass beads and enough rubber (the right size rubber band for the bead hole) to use your beads 48 times, and the threading tool, which we are making by hand at this time, so I'm loosing money on each kit, this is a test market run, to see if we have a market to justify the tools made by machine
10,000 minimum order on the machine made ones.

These little kits, at present come without printed instructions,, so bookmark this page
